Windows 7 is here

So, the upgrade story goes:  DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME (I think), Windows XP, Vista (I think) and now finally Windows 7.
After trashing two laptops and some cursing because over 70% of the applications I used did not work on Vista I gave up a month into my testing.  So, I turned the other chick and made sure I downgraded all my system to use XP SP3 a more stable and proven system.  A few months ago I decided to give Windows 7 a try and what a pleaseant surprise it was.The short version, it fixes a whole lot of problems Vista created.  The Dell laptop I currently have is now using its full resources and so far has not crashed yet.  I recently installed it on another system that was using Vista and pretty much crawling with issues.  It was slow, wireless connection were dropped, graphic card was not fully being used, DVD was flaky and the audio driver was pitiful.Did a full reinstalled on it since there was no upgrade path allowed, but since it was giving me so many problems I had not issues blowing the system away.  Like installing Windows 2008 server is was one of the fastest installs I have done yet.  This system had only 1GB installed and I could already tell the difference in performance.

I will keep testing and presenting the results.  If you have tiered of Vista go through the upgrade process to Windows 7 it is worth the time.
